George Kinoti, the Director of Criminal Investigations, has resigned.
President William Ruto revealed this during the unveiling of his Cabinet on Tuesday.
President Ruto announced that Kinoti, who served as the country’s top detective under former President Uhuru Kenyatta, has formally resigned.
“I received the resignation of DCI director George Kinoti this afternoon.” “I have forwarded it to the National Police Service, who will proceed with advertising the position,” Ruto said.
The President stated that he will appoint someone to fill Kinoti’s position while his replacement is sought.
Before becoming president, Ruto stated that Kinoti would not be spared, accusing Uhuru’s administration of using him to frustrate those who disagreed with his ideas.
During his tenure, the DCI made a number of arrests that Ruto’s camp deemed targeted, putting Kinoti at odds with the current president.
