The national meteorological department has announced that several regions across the country will receive heavy rainfall over the next five days, urging residents to prepare. The rain will begin on Tuesday, September 27, and will last until October 3rd. Six regions will be affected, according to a Monday 26th update;
1.) The Lake Victoria basin, Highlands, Rift Valley, Central and South Rift are among them. Kisii, Kakamega, Bungoma, Vihiga, and Kisumu are among the counties in this region that will be affected. The temperatures will range between 7 and 29 degrees Celsius.
2.) Turkana and Samburu counties in the northwestern region will be affected. Within the next five days, temperatures will range from 10 to 36 degrees.
3.) Highlands East of the Rift Valley including Nairobi, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Nyeri, Nyandarua, Laikipia and Kirinyaga. The temperatures will be between 5-30 degrees.
4.) North Eastern – Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir. Isiolo, Garissa counties. Temperatures will be ranging from 15-38 maximum on a hot day.
5.) South Eastern Lowlands – Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado and Taita Taveta. Temperatures will range between 10 to 31 during the five days.
6.) Coast – Mombasa, Lamu, Kwale, Malindi, Kilifi and Tana River. The lowest temperatures will be 22 and are expected to rise up to 31 degrees on a hot day.
