The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced the closure of a section of Lang’ata Road to motorists to allow for the construction of the T-Mall River Footbridge.
According to KeNHA, the road closure will take place on Sunday, September 25, 2022, from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m., and will only affect the service lane between T-Mall Roundabout and Madaraka Roundabout.
“KeNHA wishes to notify the public that traffic will be disrupted along a section of Langata Road, along the service lane (Nyayo bound lane) between T-Mall Roundabout and Madaraka Roundabout,” the Authority’s Director General Kungu Ndungu said in a statement.
“This comes after the road was scheduled to be closed to make way for the construction of the T-Mall River Footbridge. The section will be closed from 5.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. (12 hours) on Sunday, September 25, 2022.”
The Authority stated that the footbridge is being built to ensure a continuous pedestrian walkway on the busy highway.
Motorists have since been urged to follow traffic marshals’ instructions on alternate routes around the construction zone.
“Motorists traveling from Raila Odinga Way and Langata to Madaraka Roundabout should take the Ole Sangale Link or Mai Mahiu Roads,” Eng. Ndungu advised.
