Kakamega: Three candidates in court to halt the Speaker election.

On Wednesday morning, three candidates for the office of Speaker in the Kakamega County Assembly filed a lawsuit in court asking that the election be suspended.

The candidates filed a lawsuit on the grounds that their names were omitted from the list of those shortlisted for the speaker position.

Justus Kizito Mugali, a former Shinyalu MP, politician Brian Lishenga, and attorney Leonard Shimaka assert that they were denied access to the County Assembly buildings because their names were not included on the list of candidates.

The three, it is claimed, failed to provide all necessary documentation on time.

Lawyer James Namatsi, politician Kennedy Kilwake, and former Speaker Morris Buluma are among the others running for the position.
