Househelp Accused Of Stealing Ksh.104M From Employer Arraigned

Shelmith Kiprono alias Jerop a househelp who stole Ksh104 million from her employer’s house in Langata was on Monday arraigned at the Kibera law courts.

Jerop is charged alongside Caleb Nagomere Rasto ,Agaziva Brain Kenneth JacklineMinayo Kinzi and Eunice Akinyi with conspiracy to commit a felony. 

The court was told that the first accused person was released on bond after it was reviewed from  7 million shillings to  one million shillings to the exclusion of the complaint and the investigating officer.

Through her lawyer, Danstan Omari, the court was told that the complainant had received serious threats and intimidation.

“We have raised this to the IO …it Also came to the attention of the complainant and the IO that the accused are intending to disappear from the jurisdiction having stolen the money…a bond of 1 million shillings can..lead them to disappear..we urge the court to  Suspend the terms granted,”court was told 

One of the accused people managed to pay the bond last week, with his lawyers telling the court that he was unable to appear in court on Monday. 

His lawyer told the court that his client was unwell.

The trial magistrate E.Riany issued a warrant of arrest against the accused.

The four accused are said to have stolen, jointly with others not present in court, some Ksh.4,000,000, USD 806,000 in cash, jewelry with an estimated worth of Ksh.4,000,000 as well as copies of the log book and title deeds all valued at 104,000,000. 

According to police officers familiar with the matter, the four committed the crime on May 5, and were apprehended on May 13.
