Aussems Fighting For A Top Five Finish In KPL

AFC Leopards head coach Patrick Aussems is confident his boys can finish in top five of the 2021-2022 FKF-PL which ends on June 11.

After collecting 10 points in their last four matches including Sunday’s 2-0 win over Kakamega Homeboyz, Leopards are at sixth on 45 points, two behind fifth placed City Stars.

With the latest acceleration, Aussems is confident that despite a slow start, they are capable of finishing stronger.

“We are also targeting top five or even top four and so they tried to put pressure on the referee at the beginning, we kept quiet even if in the first half we lost too much ball. But, the best team on the pitch won three points and it’s totally logic,” Aussems hailed his team adding:

“I repeat that despite all the issues we went through and with all the players we lost, I told the boys to just try and avoid relegation and see today we are top five.”

The former Tanzanian giants Simba SC tactician however thinks that Ingwe should have scored more goals at the Bukhungu Stadium while he also hailed his team for a good display especially goalkeeper Levis Opiyo.

“There a lot of people who talk too much before the game but for me I don’t talk before we play.

I just prepare the team and then talk after the game and I hope it will be a good lesson to some of them.”

Aussems also hailed the entire playing unit for making a good account of themselves for the sweet victory away from home after hours of travel from Nairobi to Kakamega for the Ingo derby.

“All the players who played today played their part and of course to score after three or four minutes helped us a lot,” He said.

Leopards have only two matches to finish the season against City Stars and Nzoia Sugar
