Raila Wants Supreme Court To Declare Him President

Raila Odinga has expressed confidence that Kenya’s apex court will declare him and Martha Karua, as the duly elected president and deputy president, days after he filed a petition challenging the verdict of the August 9 General Election.

Mr. Odinga, who was speaking in Mombasa on Wednesday as he drummed up support for Abdulswamad Nassir’s gubernatorial bid, watered down the possibility of repeat presidential polls, with the Apex court set to deliver a ruling on September 5.

According to the ODM leader, his team will expose massive electoral malpractices that robbed him of victory, while seeking to have the court overturn the presidential results in his favour.

The Azimio party boss also trained his guns on IEBC chairperson Wafula Chebukati, accusing him of pocketing a huge bribe in order to announce skewed results.

He demanded that Chebukati recuse himself from the eight elections the commission has slated for Monday, August 29.
