Raila Odinga Loses A Fifth Time In A Row In Presidential Bid

Raila Odinga, Azimio La Umoja- One Kenya Alliance flagbearer, has lost in his fifth trial of the presidency.

Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairperson, Wafula Chebukati announced Deputy President William Ruto as the president-elect on Monday, August 15. 

Raila who was on a joint ticket with Martha Karua got a total 6,942,930 votes as Ruto and Gachagua garnered a total of 7,176,141 votes. He also scored 48.85 per cent as compared to Ruto’S 50.49 per cent.

Raila also lost the 2017 General Election which was nullified in his favour but however, did not contest the repeat election which President Uhuru Kenyatta won. 

He also participated in the 2013, controversial 2007 and 1997 General Elections but lost all.
