Highschool Students Involved in A Road Accident Shortly after Closing School

A group of Sironga Girls’ High School students cheated death after a vehicle they were travelling in was involved in an accident along Kisii-Sotik Road.

In the Tuesday, August 2, early morning accident, a Toyota Voxy van that was ferrying the learners collided with a police vehicle belonging to Sotik Sub County Police Commander (SCPC).

The Voxy, registration number KCA 115D, was hit from behind by the oncoming police Landcruiser. A source, who sought anonymity as he was not in a position to give the official report, said that some students escaped with minor injuries. Luckily, there were no casualties.

Images seen by this publication showed the police vehicle lying in a ditch. The Van’s rear bumper was badly damaged on the right side. Its back window was also knocked off by the impact, as the students’ bags could clearly be seen.

The vehicle was ferrying the students home following the abrupt closure of schools.
