A senior Assistant Director of Public Prosecution has been found dead.

Fredrick Ashimosi Shitiambasi, attached to the Prosecution Training Institute, was discovered dead at his house in Nairobi.

Reports indicate that the 47-year-old was unwell and on sick leave.

The body was discovered after neighbors raised concerns over a foul smell that was emanating from his house.

It is then that police were called, during which they discovered the house had been locked from inside.

They broke the door and discovered his motionless body in his bed.

He is suspected to have died of carbon monoxide poisoning since a charcoal jiko was found beside his bed.

The body is said to have started rotting when it was discovered.

Police called on Kenyans to avoid using charcoal jiko in a room that is poorly ventilated since carbon monoxide is poisonous.

The body was moved to the mortuary ahead of the planned post-mortem to ascertain the cause of his death.
