Residents of Kairungu area along the Embu-Meru highway were left in shock after a middle aged man threw himself on the road in an apparent suicide act.
According to some residents, the man was new in the village – and had gone to the area to allegedly seek spiritual intervention at a church for a problem he was facing.
Things – however – came to ahead after he reportedly failed to meet the pastor he had travelled to see.
“The man threw himself onto the road and was ran over by a lorry that was heading towards Runyenjes,” a witness told Wananchi Reporting.
According to the witness, the man died after being hit by the lorry.
Assistant Chief of Ena East Sub-location Mr. Nelson Kariuki confirmed the incident.
He said: “I would like to urge locals to find alternative ways of dealing and settling issues, and not resorting to taking their own lives.”
The body of the man was taken to Embu Level 5 hospital mortuary awaiting identification by family members.
