Nairobi Gubernatorial Debate To Be Held At Catholic University of Eastern Africa

The debate for candidates in the Nairobi Governorship race is slated to take place on Monday, July 11, 2022, at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) from 5 to 10pm.

The debate will see 9 candidates who will be contesting in the race avail themselves on the podium.

They include Johnson Sakaja, Polycarp Igathe, Ann Kagure, Dennis Kodhe, Esther Waruga, Cleophas Kiio, Harman Singh Grewal, Kenneth Nyamwamu and Nancy Wambui.

Members of the public who were interested to participate in the debate submitted their questions via video and text on Saturday, July 9, as earlier requested by the debate’s organizing secretariat.

The debates will proceed in two tiers. The first tier will see the least popular candidates, based on findings from three recent polls, take the stage from 6 pm to 7:30 pm, moderated by Serfine Achieng’ Ouma of KBC and Ayub Abdikadir of K24.

They will then vacate the podium to allow candidates with an average popularity of above five percent to take the stage between 8pm to 9:30 pm, moderated by Zubeida Koome of KTN and Mark Masai of NTV.

Waihiga Mwaura of Citizen TV will moderate both debates.

The event is set to be televised across a number of TV stations across the country.
