Frank Obegi Murder: Family Insists He Was Innocent And He Had Asked For Ksh.70 Before Disappearing

It has been widely claimed that their deaths are related with online scamming reflected by the lavish lifestyles they led, but Obegi’s family maintains that their son led an honest life.

His father, Evans Mose, told Citizen TV: “Hapa mumeona nyinyi wenyewe hatuna chochote…hata kutoa mwili Nairobi City Mortuary kufikisha hapa ilikuwa shida. Hata sai hatujapata sanduku…hizo pesa zake mingi alikuwa nazo, kama zinaonekana mahali zitolewe kidogo tupangie matanga yake.”

The deceased’s brother, Laytton Ongaga, on his part said:”The lifestyle Frank lived…somebody can have Ksh.10,000 aamue kupanda ndege aende Coast, hiyo sio kuishi lavish lifestyle. Anaeza buy viatu apigwe picha apost, but on the ground ni mtu mwenye alikuwa anaomba ata Ksh.100 akule lunch.”

Obegi’s mother, who is yet to come to terms with the brutal murder of her son, painfully recalls the last conversation they both had when Obegi asked for only Ksh.70.

“Tarehe kumi na moja, on Saturday, hii mwezi alinipigia simu, akaniambia simu yake imezima nimtumie only Ksh.70…tulikuwa na uncle yake, nikamwambia Frank ananiomba Ksh.70 na sina,” recalls Beatrice Nyanchama.

The family and the villagers have asked investigative agencies to look into the case and come to the conclusion as soon as possible.

Of the five men who were found murdered, four are from Nyamira County. The five were identified as Franklin Obegi, Moses Nyachae, Fred Obare, Perminus Wanjohi and Joseph Njau.
