IEBC Committee Dismisses Petition To Block Igathe

The IEBC’s Dispute Resolution Committee has dismissed a petition filed against Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Polycarp Igathe.

On Wednesday morning, the panel termed a complaint filed by George Bush as one that lacked merit and also dismissed it on grounds of lacking evidence.

“ The committee abides that there is no evidence or material placed before it to fault the decision of the CRO regarding the registration of the interested party. And the committee hereof upholds the CRO’s decision with respect to the complaint in this matter, ” the ruling said.

In his petition, Bush wanted IEBC to disqualify Igathe from the Nairobi Governorcontest on grounds that he absconded duty when he was the Nairobi Deputy Governor between May 2017 and January 2018.

He said that after Igathe stepped down from the position and later on the impeachment of Governor Mike Sonko, city dwellers were subjected to suffering.
