Police in Webuye have arrested a 55-year-old man ferrying 550 kilograms of bhang estimated to have a street value of millions of shillings.
The man was arrested at 6am on Tuesday along the Malaba border to Eldoret, following a tip-off from a member of the public.
According to the East Webuye station Chief Officer Gloria Ng’etich, police officers collaborated with officers from Kakamega leading to the arrest of the suspect at the pan paper area.
The suspect will remain under police custody awaiting arraignment upon completion of investigations.
Meanwhile, Ng’etich has warned residents who ship smuggled goods noting that they will tighten security along the hotspot areas.
