Korogocho MCA Absalom Odhiambo, was detained on Monday in Nairobi for making incendiary remarks at a demonstration the previous week.
Three days after the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) summoned him, officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations took Odhiambo into custody.
After he showed up at the NCIC headquarters in Nairobi’s Upper Hill area, located at the Britam Towers, the detectives detained him.
The remarks in question were made on January 23 at the Kamukunji Grounds during a rally for the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party.
The MCA is heard criticizing the Kenya Kwanza leadership in a video recording of the occasion that was widely shared online while rallying followers of Azimio for strike action in the capital.
In a statement issued to newsrooms on Friday, NCIC criticized the ODM politician’s comments, claiming they incited racial tension.
In addition, Dr. Kobia advised political figures to avoid ethnic politics, which could destabilize the nation’s existing tranquility and lead to hostility between political parties.
The commission also requested that Kenyans treat the Head of State with “respect and honor,” emphasizing his significance as a sign of racial harmony.
