A Body Found Dumped in River Yala

On Thursday night, a body of an unidentified male was pulled from the River Yala in Bondo, Siaya County.

The male was found at about 6:00 pm by a family that was looking for a relative who had gone missing and was thought to have drowned in the river a few weeks prior.

According to Got Agulu sub-location chief Joseph Owigo, the body had significant incisions on the shoulder and a leg that was nearly severed. The victim appeared to be heavily built and of medium height.

As local police launch their inquiries into the event, the man’s body has subsequently been transferred to Got Afulu Sub-County Hospital Mortuary pending postmortem and identification.

The public has been invited to tour the mortuary in order to confirm whether the deceased may be one of their relatives, as they may have also lost family members under mysterious circumstances.

The incident occurred seven months after over 30 remains that were thought to be extrajudicial killing victims were found in the river. Police say a sizable portion of them had not yet been identified.
