Modern Coast Breaks Silence Over Tharaka Nithi Accident as Death Toll Rises to 33

The death toll in the Tharaka Nithi road accident has now risen to 33.

The accident which involved a Modern Coast bus happened on Sunday, July 24, evening.

A Modern Coast bus was involved in an accident at Nithi River bridge blackspot. The bus was on its way to Mombasa from Meru at the time of the accident.

Tharaka Nithi county commissioner Robert Komora has confirmed that 33 are now dead while 10 are being treated with serious injuries.

Modern Coast Bus company has broken its silence on the accident.

The company in a statement on Sunday evening said the cause of the accident is yet to be established.

Modern Coast has sent its condolences to the affected families of the deceased who are undergoing treatment.

“We send our heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and wish quick recovery to those injured and undergoing treatment,” the company said.
