A suspected motorbike thief was lynched at Kiingati Estate in Mwea East Sub-County on Wednesday.
According to Tebere MCA Hudson Muchina, the suspect was tracked from Embu County, where he is believed to have stolen the motorcycle.
“He was found in his rented house but he was very daring, because he wanted to fight with residents before he was overpowered,” Muchina said.
Residents suspected the deceased who was stoned to death is part of a gang suspected to be behind motorbike theft in Ngurubani town and the surrounding areas.
Wang’uru police officers rushed to the scene to try and rescue him, but were too late.
The deceased’s body was taken to the mortuary by Wang’uru police officers urging residents to avoid taking law in their own hands.
