A suspected drug trafficker wanted in the United States was on Sunday extradited to the United States following his arrest at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
Christopher Richard Spencer was arrested on Thursday, June 16, shortly after his arrival in the country from Sao Paulo, in Southeastern Brazil.
He is wanted by the US for his alleged involvement in a cocaine smuggling syndicate in Guyana that is reported to have run contraband into the President Joe Biden-led nation in 2015.
“The syndicate smuggled 1.5 kilograms of cocaine through a shoe luggage, leading to Spencer’s arrest in 2016. He was subsequently taken to court but released on pre trial conditions,” the DCI wrote.
The US government had issued a warrant of arrest against him after he failed to appear in court and changed his address without notifying relevant authorities.
Prior to that he had violated his pre-trial conditions.
He was being held by DCI pending processing.
