Kenya has been listed among the top African markets for London based global payments giant WorldRemit.
On Friday, the payments gateway published data showing the amount users globally sent this year as of June 1 to different countries.
Kenya was ranked joint second alongside Zimbabwe with a share of Ksh.24.2 billion (£170 million).
The country was ranked behind only Nigeria which had a share of Ksh.38.4 billion (£270 million) of the remittances sent through the first five months of the year.
Other top WorldRemit markets on the continent by ranking are Ghana, Uganda, Cameroon, Tanzania, South Africa, Somaliland and Rwanda.
World Remit provides international money transfer services across 130 countries in over 70 currencies.
The payment’s firm allows Kenyans to receive funds through a bank transfer, mobile money wallets such as M-Pesa, as cash pickups through selected financial institutions or as airtime top ups.
