Police in Kirinyaga County have retrieved the body of a cigarette trader from Sagana believed to have been murdered and his body dumped in Ragati river.
Daniel Maina aged 46 years, a resident of Gitumbi village, and a renowned cigarette vendor in Sagana, was reported missing last Sunday by his relatives. The report was made at the Sagana police station.
According to Ndia sub-county police commander David Kabena, Maina’s body was found dumped in the river, some five kilometers away from Sagana town.
“The victim’s hands and legs were tied with an electric wire. He seems to have died a very painful death,” said Kabena.
“I am urging residents to stop killing each other because everyone has a right to live,” added Kabena.
According to the police, Maina’s body was spotted by residents who had gone to the river to fetch water
“It appears he was murdered and his body dumped in the river,” said the police.
The body has since been transferred to Murang’a hospital mortuary for postmortem examination.
The police have launched into the murder.
