Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula has dismissed the just released Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party manifesto claiming it was copied from the agenda Kenya Kwanza has been preaching around the country during its campaigns.
The Kenya Kwanza co-principal, addressing the press on Tuesday at his Namuyemba home in Kanduyi constituency, Bungoma County, termed the manifesto by the Raila Odinga-led team as only a gimmick aimed at hoodwinking voters.
Wetangula, who is also the Bungoma Senator, said only the Kenya Kwanza manifesto that will be unveiled soon has the solutions to the myriad challenges affecting Kenyans.
“I watched bits and pieces of the Azimio manifesto and in some of their issues they were only perfecting the art of being copy cats since they were just lifting all the things that Kenya Kwanza has been saying and pretending to be part of their agenda,” he said.
The lawmaker claimed that the only clear agenda of the Azimio political formation is changing the Constitution in a bid to allegedly create more positions of power for each other.
While saying Azimio is a coalition in disarray, Wetangula added that Kenya Kwanza is firm in its emphasis to grow the country’s economy on production.
“We have seen lately saga that has been ongoing in the (Azimio) coalition where various constituent parties have been walking out and walking back and so on without proper agreement on possible smooth working relationship,” he said.
“We have close to 5-6 million eligible young Kenyans qualified with degrees, diplomas, certificates and so forth who can’t get jobs and are living in very harsh economic times.”
He added: “You can’t generate wealth through emphasis on consumption…the emphasis should be on production, that’s why we keep on saying that the difference between Azimio characters and Kenya Kwanza is like day and night.”
Wetangula further trashed Azimio’s Ksh.6,000-a-month social protection agenda saying it is meaningless and only aimed at giving false hope to helpless Kenyans.
